Separate sealed Bids for the construction of the Watauga Road Facilities project for the Town
of Abingdon, Virginia which consists of the construction of Virginia Creeper Trail Enhancements
consisting of access road, parking area, prefabricated toilet facility, and associated items, will be received by Mr. Kenneth Vittum, Interim Town Manager, at the Town Hall, 133 West Main Street, Abingdon, Virginia, until 2:00 P.M., local prevailing time, on March 27, 2019, and then at said office publicly opened and read aloud.
The Contract Documents may be examined at the Abingdon Town Hall, 133 West Main Street,
Abingdon, Virginia; at Thompson & Litton, 103 E. Main Street, Wise, VA; and online at TRASCO
Copies of the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS (electronic and/or hard copy) are available for
purchase through TRASCO at http://www.trascoplanroom.com.
A non-mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be held on March 13, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. All interested
parties are requested to meet the Engineer at the Abingdon Town Hall, 133 West Main Street,
Abingdon, Virginia, at that time.
Bids must be accompanied by Bid security as specified in the Instructions to Bidders.
The successful Bidder must be licensed as a Class A contractor in the State of Virginia prior to
the execution of the Agreement.
Each Bidder must be a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Pre-Qualified Contractor.
Bidders shall comply with Executive Order 11246, entitled, “Equal Employment Opportunity,” as
amended by Executive Order 11375 and as supplemented in Department of Labor regulations
(41 CFR Part 60).
Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) firms are encouraged to submit Bids.
The Contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible Bidder.
