Visitor Center for the Blue Ridge Discovery Center

Sealed bids are invited for the conversion of a former convenience store at intersection of Routes 600 and 603 near Konnarock, Virginia, into a Visitor Center for the Blue Ridge Discovery Center.

The project is generally described as demolition of an existing former convenience store and construction of a new building on the same site.

Bids will be received until 2:00 p.m., November 6, 2025, at the Architect’s office, 651 N. Main Street, Suite 5, Marion, VA 24354. Bids may be delivered by e-mail to bill@huberarch.com prior to bid deadline. Bids will then be publicly opened and read aloud.

Bid Bond will be required. Successful bidder will be required to furnish Performance and Labor and Material Payment bonds.

This project is subject to the Build America, Buy America Act (BABAA) requirements under Title IX of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), Pub. L. 177-58. Absent an approved waiver, all iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used in this project must be produced in the United States, as further outlined by the Office of Management and Budget’s regulation (reference 2 CFR 200) on the application of Buy America Preference in Federal Financial Assistance Programs for Infrastructure.

Owner reserves the right to reject all bids should low bid received exceed funds available for project’s construction.

Copies of the contract documents (electronic and/or hard copy) are available for purchase through TRASCO site at www.trascoplanroom.com.

This project has federal funding. Davis-Bacon wage rates and Buy America provisions will apply. Bid Bond and Performance Bond will be required.

Instructions for Downloads & Extracting Files.

Click the download button.
The download queue shows your items selected to download.
Click Continue to enter payment information. Click Submit Payment to download the files.
Note the filename ( Download_#### ) if you need to search for it later.
Save your file. Typically it saves by default to your ( Downloads ) folder.
Open your File Explorer and browse to your ( Downloads ) Folder.
Find the Download_###.zip file you downloaded. Right Click on the Download_####.zip file and click ( Extract All ). A Window will popup Extract Compressed ( Zipped ) Folders. The default should extract and create a sub-folder in your Downloads folder with the PDF files inside. Keep your ZIP Files in case you misplace, delete or corrupt your PDF file(s). You can always just extract them again. Once you have extracted the files this way you can move the unpacked folder or files. If you try to move the files out of the zip file any other way you run the risk of corrupting the pdf file(s)…
